Taka-shima Island
Takashima Shrine
It is not known when the Takashima Shrine was built, but it enshrines Emperor Jimmu. Up until the Meiji Restoration in 1868, it was called Jimmu Tenno-gu (Emperor Jimmu Shrine) and Jimmu Tenno-sha (Emperor Jimmu Shrine). The shrine is quite small, but history says that it was built on the ruins of the Kibi Taka-shima Shrine which was used to temporarily lodge Emperor Jimmu when he visited the island during his eastern expedition.

| Access | From the Sanyo Kisen Sumiyoshi Boarding Dock at Kasaoka Port, take the regular passenger vessel (Sanyo Kisen) and travel 25 minutes to Taka-shima Port (ordinary ship). |
