The Running Portable Shrines of Manabe-shima Island
Running Portable Shrines are taken out for a spin for every day for 3 days in early May every year, and the main event is held on the second day. The three portable shrines being run around in the alleyways and along the coast of the island is a powerful sight to see. In 1999, the city designated them an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
